The View From My Window
Hooray!
I love the snow. I love winter, cold weather and short days. I don't mind wearing extra clothes and I completely enjoy periods of relative quiet and long hours of solitude at home.
I like seasons, cycles, variation, ebb and flow. I think extremes are healthy and keep life interesting. I would go insane living in a place like L.A., where each day is a carbon copied repeat of the last, all blue skies and comfy temps.
During the winter months, I want intensity! Give me cold clear air. I'll even take cutting winds. Give me snow and lots of it! I think slanting winter sunlight is beautiful. I get a perverse kick out of waking late on a winter day and having my first coffee as the sun is punching out for the day.
Mild winters make me feel ripped off. I don't want it warm and balmy in January. I like the threat of snow to be real up til Easter. A good winter makes spring feel like a well-earned reward.
It's a proper blizzard out there tonight and I couldn't be happier.

Great post Andee! I too love snowstorms and extreme weather of any kinds. I'll often put my running shoes on and go for a run. I could not live without our seasonal changes. "Hounds of Love" is a fantastic soundtracks for blizzards.
